How Great Thou Are! ![]() ![]()
![]() AUTHOR CONTROVERSY I have received several emails from people claiming to be the author of this poem. At first this had me baffled. Way back in the late 70s or early 80s I found those plastic cards that you carry in your wallet. One had this poem on it, which I bought and still have. After receiving these various emails claiming to the be author I contacted the publisher that was listed on my card (I couldn't imagine a publisher printing false information). My card was published by Kristone So I contacted them and was told by the owner, Steve Edwards, that all legal documentation in his possession verifies that Lauretta P. Burns is the author. He explained that originally the poem was called "Let Go and Let God" but then changed to "Broken Dreams" and some have even named it "Broken Toys". Though by all indication Lauretta P Burns is the author and wrote the poem in 1957. She gave it to her priest and since then the priest has stated he received in it 1957 by Ms. Burns; verifying that she did indeed write the poem. All this led me to know she was the author, but I still could not understand how others could lay claim to writing it and really believe they did. One lady said she wrote it in 1990 - long after Ms. Burns wrote it and in her heart I knew that she felt she had written it. So I went into meditation and asked the angels how this could be. I was told it is not any different than two people saying the same thing at the same time. All words are written in the Universe and when people say or write the same words It just means those people have tuned in to the same Universal written words energy. Though they did assure me that Ms. Burns was the first person to tune into the words of this poem. They also assured me that the other authors claiming to write the poem also tuned in to these Universal words, but at later dates. Therefore, they really feel they wrote it and they did, but after Ms. Burns and that is why Ms. Burns receives the principle acknowledgement. So a new lesson learned. Like minded people; no matter their age are like minded. ![]() ![]() I send you love. ![]() ![]()
